What would keep updates that have been approved for install from downloading to WSUS? I have a couple machines that can't get their updates simply because it can't be downloaded. Says it could be a permissions issue but I don't see the update on the harddrive of WSUS. Could this be related to my recently added Automation server and group management changes?

Adobe Acrobat/Professional 2017 patches?
I understand that Adobe XI is at end of life on October 15th, 2017. And that a new product is coming that will take it's place. Something called Adobe 2017. Any plans for SolarWinds to provide patches for this product?
Java Runtime 8u202 Third Party Update problem
Hi All,
I have a problem with the latest Java Runtime 8u202 update from the third party updates section
I recently approved the update for some test PCs - the update goes through and installs fine - but when the windows updates does the check for updates it picks up the Java Runtime 8u202 is still needed.
Ive logged in to the PC and checked which version of Java is installed - it has 8u202
Ive checked the applicability and installed ruleset and they look correct
Is they anything I might have missed or anyone else having a similar issue ?
Thanks
Removing previous versions of Java : How TO?
I'm new to patch manager. I have configured Java updates and they apply just fine. I'm also aware that these updates do not remove previous versions of java.
How can we use patch manager to remove previous java versions after installing the latest version (update)?
Seems like there could be some sort of uninstall routine for the entire domain group that would follow successful installations of the upgrades but I don't know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

SWJobEngineSvc2.exe error repeatedly
I noticed this error in my event log and was wondering if anyone has seen this type of problem before? This is on my upstream server and the error keeps happening over and over again looks like every minute:
Any ideas on what might be causing this? My WSUS seems to be working fine i'm getting new updates pushing them to clients just don't know why I'm seeing this in the event log.
Thanks in advance.
Java 8 162 issue
I've just started rolling out Java 8 162 through patch manager. I have edited the package to select the uninstall options of older versions. Windows picks up the Java update and starts to run it. I'm then getting that the update has failed, however not before uninstalling the old version, so now the pc has no Java at all.
This has happened on both a Windows 10 x64 and Windows 7 x64.
It would be interesting to know if I'm managing to do something wrong. The last Java update I pushed out worked fine.
Integrating SolarWinds NPM NCM SAM environment with SCCM
Is there any chance we can integrate Microsoft SCCM database with SolarWinds to create and display dashboards in SolarWinds.
I know that SCCM can be integrated with Path Manager but, for now we don't have that module.
Currently we are using NPM, SAM, NCM, DPA, VIM.
I know its a dumb question but, is it possible?
UPDATING ADOBE READER AND ACROBAT PRO TO 11.0.10 WITH DEFAULT MSP PACKAGE DOES NOT WORK - UPDATE IS RECOGNIZED AS NOT APPLICABLE
I am trying to update our Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro to 11.0.10 using the default MSP packages in Patch Manager. All of the systems keep reporting as 'NOT APPLICABLE'. All of the workstations have Reader11.0.09, with about 10% still on 11.0.08 (due to the fact that the reader 11.0.09 package only patched about 2/3 of the systems). All systems that have Acrobat Pro are 11.0.09. The packages do not give you the ability to edit the Applicability Rules. Has anyone else seen this problem? Know a way to fix this? I am new to SolarWinds Patch Manager, and any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
.Net Framework 4.6.2
I would like to install NDP462-KB3151800-X86-64-ALLOS-ENU using patch manager. I have read the custom page installl Deploying Custom Packages with Patch Manager
but this deal with a .MSI install. Does any one have any suggestions for a .exe install i would be to refer too?
Thank you in advance,

Acrobat 9 patches
Does anyone know of a way to patch Acrobat 9 to the latest version with a single package?
We have a number of systems that are running outdated versions of Acrobat 9 and so they need a bunch of patches, but Acrobat 9.x patches have to be applied in order and they appear to be rolling out to these machines one day at a time and the machines don't detect that a patch is applicable until the one before it has been applied. For example, a machine that has 9.3.0 installed would install the 9.3.1 patch the first night, and then detect that the 9.3.2 patch is applicable install it the next night, followed by 9.3.3 the next night, and so on. But there are about 13 interim patches between 9.3 and 9.5.2! Is there any way to bundle these all together so that a single package can update all of the outdated systems at once?
Troubleshooting and installation error
I just created and published a 3P package. I found a computer where the status was properly listed as Not Installed. I used Update Management to 'push' the download and install. The download succeeded, and the install failed. How do I troubleshoot this? I am looking for a list of places to go and logs to check to find clues as to why the installation failure happened. From the PM GUI the error says:
Details: Install failed. Fatal error during installation HRESULT: 0x80070643
Nearly not as detailed enough as I need to figure out what happened.
Thanks for the help!

Flash update - Install failed. Fatal error during installation HRESULT: 0x80070643
I recently updated Patch Manager and applied the Microsoft KB2720211 Update. I generated a new self-signed cert and distributed it out to all PCs.
Since then it seems updates are only goin in on some PCs.
I push out a recent Flash Update, it gets downloaded successfully, but its installation is failing on 7 of 35 PCs with the error, Install failed. Fatal error during installation HRESULT: 0x80070643
This seems to be a generic error, any ideas?
Did the Flash updates change?
Hi,
Are there some changes to the Flash packages? We use the flash MSI packages from solarwinds repository. Until now we only used the full package (not update) to install and update. This were running fine.
Now my clients show "not applicable" only for the "flash player plugin MSI" package. The "flash player activex MSI" is applicable.
Same problem with 32.0.0.156 and 171.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Edit:
I found the Applicability Rules of the MSI Plugin Package seems to be wrong for x32 and x64:
- First check if Reg Value "Version" under SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPlugin is lower than the needed version --> OK
- Then Check if the new NPSWF32*.dll under System32\Macromed\flash\ doesn't exist already --> OK
- But then check that the Reg-Path mentioned above doens't exist (SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPlugin) - That looks wrong, if I want to update :-(
Fast Way to filter KB
Hello,
Is there a fast way to filter Updates using the KB numbers?
If I select view "All Updates" and I want to filter for KB number then I can do that only AFTER all updates are shown.
But this view never successes because of a timeout (the Datagrid Service has a high cpu usage during this). A wsus cleanup didn't help.
I would like to have an Update view, which only requests Updates for special kb numbers.
Meaning of icons in managed Computers
In the Managed Computers screen, the centre panel shows a lot of icons beside the computer names: square with red line, yellow triangle with exclamation mark. I could probably 'assume' the intent but it would be nice to know what they really represent. Does anybody know where a list can be found? Cheers

Server 2016 - Windows Update Log
Anyone else getting a blank page when trying to view the Windows Update Log on a Server 2016 server, when trying to view via the Computer Explorer?
Any clues on how to fix this?
Windows 10 clients will contact, but not report
I was wondering if anyone else has run into this type of problem. We're a bit behind the times at my company and are just starting to get windows 10 client workstations. The problem is they contact my patch manager server, but don't report so they don't install any updates. I was hoping to find out some possible solutions? If you need any additional information about our environment let me know and I'll get back to you.
Thanks in advance.

How does Patch Manager compare to other products
My team is evaluating patch / update management. We currently use WSUS for Microsoft patching and are pretty happy with it. We use SCCM to push out packages for 3rd party applications, but I understand it's not an easy process, nor as automated as we would like. The current brand of "eww and ahh" is Shavlik, but seeing we have several Solarwinds products already I'm asking that they evaluate that as well.
So how do the various tools for 3rd party application patching stack up? Which one has the most automated process and applications that it supports? Which one is the most "user friendly?" What other criteria would you suggest to use for evaluating the right tool for this job.
For sizing we have about 2000 users, 400 servers across 2 business units (lots of very specific applications that require individual, and sometimes several servers). Our Infrastructure team is currently 9 members.
